We love a good short week. Hope yours is going well. We’re talking about email newsletter subject lines again this week. This time we’re focusing on word choice. Words matter, especially when it comes to steering clear of spam filters.

There are a couple of hard-and-fast rules to formatting email subject lines. Never use ALL CAPS. Never use exclamation points!!!! You also want to avoid trigger words like free, guarantee and no obligation. We like this HubSpot rule of thumb: If it sounds like something a used car salesman would say, it’s probably a spam trigger word.
