For over a century, the Society of Actuaries (SOA) has been the leading global professional organization for actuaries, with over 31,000 members and 36,000 candidates spanning more than 100 countries.

The SOA empowers actuaries to be leaders in measuring and managing risk to improve financial outcomes for individuals, organizations, and the public. They advance the actuarial profession through cutting-edge research, continuing education, and a supportive community of peers.

SOA members and candidates are highly skilled and sought-after professionals who play a vital role in various industries, including insurance, finance, healthcare, and consulting.

SOA offers its members a wide range of content through various e-newsletters, providing relevant information for multiple audiences.

Although the SOA team had already sent newsletters to its members and candidates, the association wanted to provide more engaging, targeted content and improve its open rates. They also wanted a newsletter that was easy to use and manage, so they turned to rasa.io for help.

Partnering with rasa.io, SOA now offers more personalized content using AI functionality.

“After the success of our member newsletter, which is built in rasa.io, we discussed moving the candidate newsletter to this platform in order to utilize the AI functionality and other design elements and options,” said Amy Carpenter, Communications Manager for the Society of Actuaries. “We were very excited to have the AI tool to drive more engagement within our newsletter.”

Thanks to its partnership with rasa.io, SOA can personalize newsletter content for each recipient, generating engaging and informative content that has resulted in improved open and click-through rates.

“Prior to using rasa.io for our candidate newsletter, we built this communication in a few ways. We tried different designs and A/B testing to improve our open rates, but they remained steady at around 26-32 percent,” she explained. “Our open rates now remain steady between 48-55 percent.” – Amy Carpenter, Communications Manager for SOA

Using the rasa.io platform, SOA newsletters are easy to create and popular with subscribers.

Carpenter describes the rasa.io platform’s dashboard as “user-friendly and intuitive,” and praised rasa.io for providing the support needed to train the SOA content team and answer any questions they had or continue to have as the organization continues to use the platform.

“Once our newsletter is planned, it takes a short amount of time to load in the content, tweak, and test it,” she explained. “This makes our internal approval process much easier and less stressful. Now that we have AI-generated content, we don’t feel pressure to schedule external sources.”

The SOA candidate newsletter features a balance of curated content and AI content. It also promotes events, resources, educational opportunities, videos, research, and affinity partner information.

Adding ad space and design options that rasa.io offers is the icing on the cake for SOA.

Carpenter says that SOA takes advantage of the advertising space in its newsletter to promote internal events and opportunities and utilizes it to benefit its partners. She notes that these areas give the SOA content team more flexibility with its curated content.

“Not only can we now utilize space for AI-generated content, we’ve created a design with the rasa.io team that adds a resources section, scheduled articles, and advertising space to break up our promotional information,” she continued. “Our candidates and staff appreciate the organized content and overall design of the newsletter. Providing them with content that is relevant in their job or interest area is an added bonus for engagement rates.”

Our users love to brag about the growth of their businesses.
